The Ayitpea Wind Farm project in Ghana has completed the refurbishment of three local schools as part of its Community Investment Plan. The schools, which were selected by the local government based on their individual needs, are located close to the project site and collectively educate more than 300 pupils.

The objective of the refurbishment programme, which began in October 2016 and was completed in March 2017, is to provide a safer and more comfortable teaching environment for both the teachers and the children. The three schools are Old Ningo DA Kindergarten, Ayitepa DA Basic Junior High School and Dawa DA Basic – Primary.
Commenting at the handing-over ceremony, JJ E Esuako , Headmaster at Dawa DA Basic School said: “In the past the classrooms did not have doors and windows which caused a major inconvenience , for instance sheep and goats would use the classrooms at night and bats would use them as refuge. Thanks to Lekela we have secure classrooms for a better learning environment. “
